Zhelyo Zhelev is currently a Head Assist. Prof. at the Department of Control and Analysis of Economic Activity at the Tsenov Academy of Economics. In 2018, he obtained his PhD. In the same year, he took the position of Coordinator at the Distance Learning Center at the same educational institution, where he worked until June 2024.

His research interests include taxation, tax behaviour, tax control, transfer pricing, financial intelligence, and more. He has participated in more than five national and international projects.

Zhelyo Zhelev’s contributions to the academic community are extensive. He has authored and co-authored over 30 scientific publications, with three indexed in Scopus and WoS. His expertise is further recognized through his role as a reviewer for more than 40 scientific publications indexed in Scopus and WoS, for which he received the prestigious Outstanding Reviewer Award from the Journal of Risk and Financial Management, MDPI, in 2023. He is a member on the Editorial Review Board of the International Journal of E-Business Research (IJEBR) and the International Journal of Applied Management Theory and Research (IJAMTR). He is a member of the Union of Scientists in Bulgaria from 2018.
